Scholar Spotlight – Nicole Nantz
As The Chatfield Edge prepares to celebrate student success at our annual “Celebrating Our Scholars Brunch”on April 13, we are excited to spotlight one of our newest scholars, Nicole Nantz.
At the tender age of ten, a simple writing assignment from her fifth-grade teacher helped Nicole uncover her passion for storytelling, setting her on a path toward a future in the film industry. Asked simply to “write a story,” Nicole ended up writing, illustrating, and delivering a dramatic rendition of her story about a high school student who found that her locker was haunted.
“I’m not sure where that story came from, but I realized right then that I wanted to make things and tell stories,” Nicole said. Fast forward, she is now enrolled in Xavier University’s Digital Innovation, Film, and TV program and works two jobs to put herself through school.

Mentor Spotlight: Amber Saeidi Asl
Amber grew up in St. Martin, Ohio, in the shadows of Chatfield’s Brown County campus. As a child, she loved riding her bike along the campus’ tree-lined paths and served regularly at 5 pm Saturday Mass at Sacred Heart Chapel. In high school, she enrolled in Chatfield College’s post-secondary education program and later earned her education degree from Miami University.
As she built her career in education, she spent several years traveling between and teaching in the United States and Europe. During her fourteen years at the U.S. Air Force Base, RAF Lakenheath, in England, Amber met her husband and later gave birth to her first child. In 2022, Amber and her family moved back to the U.S. and purchased a home just on the other side of The Chatfield Edge’s campus.
Learn more about how Amber is using her education and life experiences to mentorone of our Chatfield Edge scholars who hopes to one day continue her education in England!
