Neal Named Department Chair of Sciences at Chatfield College

Thomas Neal has been appointed the new full-time Chair of Physical, Life and Social Sciences.  at Chatfield College in St. Martin, Ohio and Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine, where he will be responsible for all science programs at both campuses.

Mr. Neal has a BS in Mathematics and Physics, a BA in Philosophy, and a MA in Mathematics from the University of Louisville, as well as a MBA in Finance from Xavier University.  He has recent teaching experience at Northern Kentucky University, Thomas More College, Cincinnati State Community & Technical College and Gateway Community College.

Tom is an Eagle Scout, US Marine Corp veteran (and recipient of the Naval Achievement Medal with Combat “V”) and is a recently retired Alpine Patroller having volunteered on the National Ski Patrol for 35 years. With considerable international experience in Asia-Pacific, Brazil and Europe, Mr. Neal has travelled extensively for more than two years on the Indian subcontinent.

During a long corporate career, Tom worked at several international and Fortune 500 companies, including IBM and Arthur Andersen

Tom says “My teaching style is to always strive to spark students’ curiosity and encourage them to gain greater insight into the world around them.  I hope to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities and to instill in them a lifetime love of learning.  My intent is to continually support and challenge them to discover their own unique talents and opportunity to contribute, and thus to help them build their confidence and self-esteem – all with the goal of preparing and empowering students ultimately for success in their future professional careers.”

Mr. Neal added “I am extremely excited about joining Chatfield and the opportunity it presents to be able to give back to the community in such a direct and meaningful way.”

Tom lives in Crescent Springs with his wife Elizabeth, who is an Assistant Professor in the Art Department and Gallery Director at Thomas More, and their dog Pepper and cat Jack.  His daughter Summer, her husband Keith and granddaughter Tru, currently reside in the Toledo area.
