Hughes Named Assistant Director of Admissions at Chatfield College

Sokoni Hughes will take on the role of Assistant Director of Admissions at Chatfield College. In this new position, Hughes will be responsible for coordinating and supporting all of Chatfield’s admissions efforts including managing the external lead generation program, implementing effective admissions processes, and leading the Chatfield admissions department to achieve enrollment goals.

Sokoni is a 2015 graduate of Chatfield, and a 2017 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.  Sokoni began his career in the office of admissions as a work-study student in the spring of 2013 and was eventually hired as a full-time counselor at the Cincinnati campus.  In his time at Chatfield College, Sokoni has played a significant role in increasing awareness of Chatfield’s brand in the community. Sokoni led an initiative that created new opportunities for both public and private high school students to earn valuable college credits through the College Credit Plus program at the Over-the-Rhine campus.

“Over the last three years, Sokoni has become a leader in our department and has helped us develop significant relationships with schools and organizations throughout Cincinnati,” said John Penrose, Vice President of Enrollment Management.  “We tell students every day you can achieve a better future at Chatfield—Sokoni’s hard work is proof.”

“As the new Assistant Director of Admissions, I have been given greater responsibilities, and I’m up for the challenge! My goal will remain the same as when I joined the admissions team 3 years ago—to grow Chatfield’s enrollment by helping students understand the value of education and the impact it has on their ability to create a better future for themselves and their families,” said Hughes.

Sokoni lives in the Village of Elmwood with his wife Nicole, their four-year-old son Sokoni Jr. (S.J.) and their pug Bo.  In his spare time, Sokoni enjoys fishing, reading, playing chess, and spending time with his family. Hughes believes that “Time is our most valuable asset, and we ought to, as often as we can, use it doing the things we enjoy most.”
