Chatfield College Welcomes New Coordinator of Volunteers
George TenEyck has joined Chatfield College as the Coordinator of Volunteers. In this role, George will supervise, manage, and assess all aspects of activities for tutoring and mentoring programs at both campuses, as well as serve as a student advisor.
George said, “I’m thrilled to join the Chatfield community and continue working with students, volunteers, and staff to create an equitable educational experience. I am glad to be working with such great people in all aspects of this community!”
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Kenyon College and Master of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. George immediately set to teaching within the social justice-oriented History and Ethnic studies curriculum of the Portland (OR) Public Schools. There, he also served on the CARE professional Committee, a group that led professional development aimed at decreasing community educational achievement gaps. Later, in Brooklyn, NY, George taught in after-school programs for students in family shelters, developed enrichment activities to enhance student learning, and served as the Program Manager at CAMBA, a non-profit agency that provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life.
“Much of George’s work at Chatfield will build on his experience of closing achievement gaps, as a member of a team focused on the success of our students. He inherits tutoring and mentoring programs that have grown in strength and size, important to ensuring the delivery of our mission,” said Dr. Peter Hanson, Chief Academic Officer and Dean.
George resides in Cincinnati and enjoys reading, watching movies, hiking with his dog, and listening to music!
