Chatfield College Remembers Paul Sittenfeld
March 22, 2021
Chatfield College lost a great champion and supporter of the college last week, Paul Sittenfeld. Staff and members of the board of trustees remember Paul for his ability to simplify complicated issues and offer meaningful advice focused on improving the lives of those he served. Bill Montague, who followed Paul as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Chatfield College remembers Paul as “always insightful, strategic, warm, funny, and above all, caring.”
Mary Ellen Betz, a trustee of Chatfield College, remembers Paul with great respect and fondness. “He was a true gentleman whose life clearly showed deep concern for individuals, institutions, organizations, and causes through his presence, generosity, and leadership. He strongly valued education as an essential societal force for good, and with the heart and hands of a philanthropist, supported a wide scope of related meaningful efforts within our community.”
Paul served with distinction on a wide variety of non-profit boards in Cincinnati. At Chatfield College, Paul was a wonderfully positive and encouraging role model for other Trustees. Combining levity with clarity, he openly shared his wisdom, wealth of experiences, and ongoing enthusiasm. His solid commitment to achieving Chatfield’s mission of effective individual student-focused learning provided a strong beacon to all in planning, decision-making, and action for the college.
The current Chair of the Board of Trustees, Victoria Parlin, reflects on Paul’s contributions to Chatfield College. She said, “Possessed of the ability to understand large issues and think strategically, he could also identify and illuminate the small but important details that one can be tempted to overlook. He could be fearless in expressing his opinions but was always kind and often humorous. In so many ways, his presence, participation, and guidance have been a gift to Chatfield and the Board, and he will be sorely missed.”
