Chatfield College Announces Jung Scholarship Recipients & Faculty Chair
Chatfield College in Cincinnati and St. Martin, Ohio has announced that four recipients of the Mary Lois Jung scholarship have been named.
St. Martin students Darla Boitnott and Colton Baker and Over-the-Rhine students Aundaya Dixon and Angelika Black will all receive scholarships established from a bequeathed gift from Dr. Mary Lois Jung – surgeon, former Catholic nun and dedicated philanthropist. The $1 million gift is the largest testamentary gift in Chatfield’s history and its largest endowed scholarship.
“These students are just four of many future students that will benefit from the generosity of Dr. Jung,” said John Tafaro, President. “This scholarship fund will help students attend Chatfield for generations to come.”
In addition to the scholarship recipients, Chatfield also announced the appointment of Jim Woodford as the new George H. Jung Jr. Chair in Science. Jim has taught at Chatfield College since the fall 2011 semester and has been the part-time Science Department Chair since the 2014-15 academic year. In addition to guiding the Science Department for the last few years, he has taught biology, ecology, zoology, and environmental science. He has also taught math developmental courses. Jim will continue to teach at both Chatfield campuses.
Dr. Mary Lois Jung established the Science Chair in 2001, in honor of her late father, George H. Jung, Jr. who started his own business, the Jung Corporation, an international manufacturing company of medical appliances, after designing a brace for himself to help a football injury.
