Brittaney Harp Joins Chatfield as English Chair

Brittaney Harp has recently joined Chatfield College as its new English Department Chair. In this position, she will be managing and recruiting English department faculty, revising and maintaining the English department curriculum, teaching English courses, and participating in various academic initiatives.

Brittaney earned her associate’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in Liberal Arts, her bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University in English and Philosophy, and her master’s degree in English from Xavier University. She is currently enrolled at the University of Cincinnati working on her PhD in Literature and Comparative Studies. Brittaney’s specialty during her master’s program was medieval literature, but she is currently specializing in 19th century American literature.

Brittaney has served as an adjunct professor at several schools, giving her thirteen years of teaching experience. She has also served as an academic administrator in many different roles including associate dean, dean, and department chair over the span of eight years. She became aware of Chatfield through a colleague at another school. When she started her PhD program in 2015, she was looking for additional adjunct work to support herself and her family during her studies, so she applied for a job at Chatfield. She has now been an adjunct at both of Chatfield’s campuses since the fall of 2015.

“Chatfield College has been a wonderful teaching experience for me for the past four years – I have enjoyed working with students, staff, and faculty at both campuses. I am excited to now have an opportunity to work more closely with the administration to empower students by providing a quality academic experience and a positive learning environment,” Brittaney said.

Brittaney has been married for almost thirteen years, has a five-year-old son and two cats. She enjoys playing video games and has a love of science fiction, horror, fantasy, and 90’s action films.

Chatfield College is a private, Catholic, liberal arts college offering the Associate of Arts degree in Brown County, Ohio and Cincinnati, and is an open enrollment college. The Brown County campus is located at 20918 State Route 251; St. Martin, OH 45118; the Cincinnati campus is located in historic Over-the- Rhine at 1544 Central Parkway; Cincinnati, OH 45202.
