Bilal Clemons Joins Chatfield College as an Admissions Counselor

Bilal Clemons recently joined Chatfield College as an admissions counselor at the Over-the-Rhine campus. Bilal will be working in the field at area high schools, agencies and businesses, and on campus to recruit and register new students.

Bilal attended the University of Mount Union where he attained his Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Communications (Public Relations) and Sport Management Recreation. During his last semester of college, he took on an inside sales internship with the Cleveland Cavilers, and immediately after graduation accepted a position as a Graduate Assistant and Intern Coach for Thomas More University. Soon after his internship, he worked as a Sales Supervisor at Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) for three and a half years.

During his time at Thomas More, he took on a lot of different roles to keep him busy. Within his first year, he became the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Resident Hall Director, Student Conduct/Hearing Officer, Assistant Director of Intramurals, as well as helping out in Admissions during freshman orientation.

“Having these variety of positions allowed me to develop relationships with students to serve as their liaison, coach, motivator, and leader. What led me to Chatfield was their small campus environment and their professor/student ratio. I enjoy the small college atmosphere where having that one-on-one connection with a student is a focal point of their success. I’m excited about this new role being able to motivate and guide a student through potential barriers or obstacles is something I enjoy doing,” said Bilal.

Bilal was a first-generation college graduate, so he is able to relate to most of the student body at Chatfield. He is excited to share stories and experiences with other students so that they can learn first-hand what it is like to be a first-generation college student.

“Bilal has been a national champion on the football field, an excellent student in the classroom and we are excited for him to bring his winning attitude to the admissions department here at Chatfield College,” John Penrose, Vice President of Enrollment stated.

Bilal is a native of the White Oak/Cheviot area on the west side of Cincinnati. He enjoys being a personal trainer, traveling, reading, watching Parks and Recreation, and taking in Reds and Bengals games in his spare time.

Chatfield College is a private, faith-based, liberal arts college offering the Associate of Arts degree in Brown County and Cincinnati, and is an open enrollment college. The Brown County campus is located at 20918 State Route 251; St. Martin, OH 45118; the Cincinnati campus is located in historic Over-the- Rhine at 1544 Central Parkway; Cincinnati, OH 45202.
